This is a
maintenance build that incorporates some of the important changes/bug
fixes from version 9.0.
Sometimes the attributes were not
getting dispayed correctly when you switch back from 132-column screen
to 80-column screen.
Z-Modem "auto-start" feature
was not working sometimes.
When you issue a command to
start a Windows programs, it will launch it as "Normal Window" instead
of launching it as "Maximized".
Switching between multiple
sessions, when in full screen mode, would sometimes leave a small border
at the bottom of the screen. .

- You can specify the name and the
location of the PhoneBook file in Settings/Terminal Connection. This
feature allows you to share the PhoneBook file over the network between
different users.

- You can specify the name and the
location of the PhoneBook file in Settings/Terminal Connection. This
feature allows you to share the PhoneBook file over the network between
different users.
- The PhoneBook dialog box
would display the name and the location of the PhoneBook file in its
caption.
- When you use the PhoneBook
to dial a number, it will no longer change your settings. Therefore, you
will no longer get the unnecessary message that says "Your settings have
changed. Do you wish to save it".
- On some PC modems, you would
unnecessarily receive the message "The modem is disconnected...." when
you get connected and press any key on your keyboard. This problem has
now been fixed.

- 1. You can
specify the name and the location of the PhoneBook file in
Settings/Terminal Connection. This feature allows you to share the
PhoneBook file over the network between different users. 2. The
PhoneBook dialog box would display the name and the location of the
PhoneBook file in its caption. 3. When you use the PhoneBook to dial a
number, it will no longer change your settings. Therefore, you will no
longer get the unnecessary message that says "Your settings
have changed. Do you wish to save it". 4. On some PC modems,
you would unnecessarily receive the message "The modem is disconnected...." when you
get connected and press any key on your keyboard. This problem has
now been fixed.
- Wyse 50 emulation was not
skipping 32 characters in the top status line. A new field 'Reserved
Length" has now been added to Settings, Terminal, Terminal Type tab to
allow user to specify it as 32 characters for TRUE Wyse 50 emulation.
The default value is 0.
- Change Caption support has
now been added to Insight functions.
- A new setting "Use mouse
right click for context menu" has been added to Settings, Keyboard tab.
If you are using the mouse in your host application and would like to
continue to use the right mouse click foe local context menus, please
enable this setting.
- Couple of problems (related
to scrolling of the screen and clearing of attributes when the protected
mode is turned on) has been fixed in VT100 and ANSI emulations.
- An option to change the
intensity of the colors has been added to Settings, Screen, Color
property page.

- Modified installation program to allow
the user to load settings from a previously created configuration file
(user.aln) during the installation.
- Added a dialog box to
specify 'Answerback" string in Settings, Keyboard tab.
- The maximum number of
supported Com ports has been increased from 35 to 98.
- Added an option to "Disable
VT Graphics" for VT Emulations.
- Multiple page support added
for VT emulations.
- Added emulations for several
new terminals like Hazeltine 1500, Data General, Esprit 105C, etc.
- You may now select the Enter
key to send CR-NULL in Settings, Keyboard menu.
- The numeric keypad multiply
key (keypad * key) will now act as the "Send Line" key in IBM 3151
emulation.
- Modified installation
program to allow the user to automatically load the license information
from a text file(user.cfg) during the installation.
- Added support to turn on the
'Numeric keypad application mode' in VT (VT100, 220/320/400) and ANSI
emulations.
- Fixed a problem when the
number of terminal pages were set to '1' (No multiple pages). It used to
give a memory error, if multiple page commands were
received.

Added a new emulation for ADDS
ViewPoint A2 and VP 60 terminals.
Added Photo File imaging
library support. This is an optional feature and will be available
separately if you request it.
Keys remapped to control
codes (non ASCII characters) would now be displayed (as symbols) and
stored as a part of the data that was entered. Send key will send all
data including these control codes to the host.
The size of data for the
host interface commands like 'write to PC file/clipboard' has been
increased from 10K to 64K bytes.
Insight functions (specially
with larger Menus) used to crash the application. These memory related
problems have now been fixed for Insight functions.
A new host interface
conmmand to "check if a PC file exists" has been added. It returns the
size of the file, if present, otherwise returns N.
A new extended host
interface command to "read the PC file and send a special EOF (end of
file) character" has been added.
The dim (reduced intensity)
characters are brighter. They were very dim and hardly visible on some
monitors, previously.
Installation Error Message
#104 has been expanded to indicate that the user does not have
'administrative privilidges" to create registry entries and install the
software.

Application
used to cause an error sometimes, if 132 column data was sent while in
80 column mode.
Multiple Page support has
been added for Wyse, Esprit III and TeleVideo terminals. The user may
specify the number of Terminal pages in Settings/Terminal/Terminal Type
tab. The default value is 2 pages.
Auto Page(Vertical Wrap)
support has been added for Esprit III and TeleVideo terminals. Advance
Page and Back Page commands are also supported.
The command to turn off line
wrap is now supported in Ansi, and Wyse emulations.
Alternate Page toggle
(Control+Shift+T) was not restoring the cursor position.
In field terminals, correct
attribute was not getting set when scrolling from the last line.
New short-cut keys,
Control+Shift+PageUp and Control+Shift+PageDown, are added to move
between mutiple pages in either direction.
Revese screen display has
also been added to Wyse and Ansi emulations in addition to TeleVideo and
Esprit III emulations.
Added support for native
file transfer commands to silently transfer files on serial and modem
connections.

- Released on

- Native File
transfer was not working in Wyse 50 emulation on Serial RS-232 or Modem
connections. This problem has been resolved.
- VT220 8-bit emulation was
not displaying screens correctly some times. The 7-bit emulation was
working fine.
- The printing was not working
properly for certain printers. This problem was introduced in version
8.0, build 4.0 and has been corrected.
- In the protected mode, tab
and back tab operations were not working properly in Esprit III
emulation. This has been corrected.
- Support for the color
pallete selection command has been added for Wyse 350 emulation.

- Sometimes, the
color changes were not getting propogated in ANSI emulation.
- When History buffer was on,
the status lines were not getting painted sometimes. Also, the History
scroll bar was not being shown initially.
- The extra boundary around
the emulation window has been removed.
- The numeric keypad keys
(/, * ,-, +) will now work locally when the block mode is selected. The
numeric keypad keys (other than 0 to 9 and NumLock keys) will also work
locally in the block mode, if re-mapped.
- The numeric keypad keys (/,
* ,-, +) and remapped keys will now echo locally, if "local echo" is
turned on.
- Clipboard data would now be
pasted locally in the block mode.
- A facility has been added to
allow different pages (tabs) of Terminal settings to be individually
locked.
- A new option has been added
to "Capture" print data to a file. Please use Settings, printing menu
option to set it up.

- Automation functions have been enhanced to include a new
function, GetCursor. This function returns the current position of the
cursor.
- Automation function,
WaitCursor, would return an Error, if it times out.
- Added some more graphic
characters to IBM 3151 emulation. Added support for attribute
operations.
- Added programmable function
key support for IBM 3151 emulation.
- Added color support for Wyse
350 emulation.
- Implemented "block
mode" for Televideo (TVI 925/950), Esprit III and IBM 3151
emulations.
- Implemented programming of
Send Delimiters for the Send Key. Also implemented programming of the
Send key to send Unprotected data, only. Added support for Send Line
(all), Send Page (all), Send Line(Unprotected), Send Page(Unprotected)
functions. This is useful in the Block Mode.
- You may now select the
"Enter" key to act as the "Send" key. This is in
addition to the "End" key on the extended key-pad that acts as the
"Send" key both in the block mode and in the normal (Full-duplex) mode.
The SEND operation works in ESPRIT, TVI 925/950 and IBM 3151 emulations.
- Added Support for
Reverse Video Mode in Esprit III and TVI 925
emulations. This special command allows the whole screen to be reversed.
- If you place the cursor on a
protected field when in the block mode and try to enter data, the
emulator will beep and skip to the next unprotected field.
- The left and right arrow
commands would also skip protected fields when the protect mode is on.
- The End key no longer maps
to BackTab key in IBM 3151 emulation. It is used as the Send key.
Control+End continues to acts as "Clear Field".

- Added a new 'Auto Disconnect' feature to
automatically disconnect Modem & Telnet session
when a user specified 'String' is received from the host. You can also
specify a specific 'occurrence' (for example the second occurrence) of
this string to disconnect. Please use Settings, Terminal, Safe
Disconnect tab to specify the 'Disconnection Sequence'
and its 'Occurrence'.
- Added "Disconnect
Session" (for Modem & Telnet sessions) feature which
disconnects the session after a specified time. The disconnection can
also be tied to "inactivity" so that the session is terminated only if
there is no activity for the specified time. Please use Settings,
Terminal, Start Up tab to specify the 'Disconnection Time'
in minutes and 'Disconnect only when
inactive'.
- The application used to lock
up sometimes when closing or exiting the session. This problem has been
resolved now.
- Some special
characters were not getting drawn correctly in VT 100/220/320
emulation. This problem has been corrected.
- Pressing Control C will no
longer stop logging of the data to the file. Please use
Session, DataLogging, StopLogging to do so.
- Added various
attribute combinations (like Reverse+Underscore, etc)
for IBM 3151/3161 emulation.

Keyboard remapper can now remap
special keys like NumLock, Right Control
Key, Control+Break (Cancel) key, Enter key on
the numeric keypad and Caps Lock key.
Added a new emulation for VT Series
VT220/320/400/420 terminals offering many advanced
features like rectangular area fills, program function and user keys,
insert mode, protected mode, bi-directional (Print Receive) mode and
many more. Both 7-bit and 8-bit emulation modes are supported.
In VT220 mode, PC keyboard is mapped to the VT220
keyboard including PF1-PF4, Find, Insert Here, Remove and
Select keys. Other special keys like Do, Help, etc. are also supported.
Added a separate emulation for Wyse 60 terminal.
Added a new emulation for VT52 terminal.
Added display of box drawing characters in
VT emulations.
Added support for Costar Imaging application.
Reduced the delay in opening the secondary serial port.
File transfer on RS-232 or modem connections were getting stuck
sometimes. This problem has been resolved.
Codes for INSERT key in IBM3151/3161 emulation
have been corrected.

An option to turn
on "Local Echo" has been added to Settings, Screen,
Display page.
- The "Back Space" (rubout) key has an option "normal" in addition
to "Destructive BS" and "True BS". This allows you to re-map it using
the Keyboard remapper.
- Added "Bidirectional mode" support for Wyse 50
emulation. This allows you to access a device like weighing scale.
- Transparent print mode was not getting turned off in Wyse 50
emulation in one case. This problem has been fixed.
- Added a new terminal emulation for IBM
3151/3161/3163 terminals.
- Terminal reset function would now stop transparent printing
operation, file transfer operation, DDE operations and do the necessary
clean up.
- Added a new feature to record and run "Macros".
You can records the keystrokes in a macro file and run the "macro"
later. Start Up tab now allows you to run a pre-recorded macro on start
up.
- The first line in the history buffer (display memory) was
displayed as a blank line sometimes. This problem has been fixed.
- A new option "Telnet Host Terminal Type" has
been added to Settings, Terminal, Connection tab. This allows you to
specify the actual host terminal type for terminal type negotiation for
telnet.
- Key Board Remapper was not remapping the Delete Key. This problem
has been fixed.
- You can now set up the Page Length (24, 25, and
any value from 24 to 51 rows) and Page width (80 or 132
columns) by using Settings, Terminal, Terminal Type tab.
- In some instances, Line Feed was not moving the cursor to the
first column.

- A Phone Book icon has been added to the tool
bar. The Phone Book is now enabled for modem
connections, only.
- Sometimes, the program was dialling the phone
number on start up even when "Auto connect on Startup" was not checked
(for modem connections).
- When muliple processes are disabled, and the
user starts the application again, it will now restore the application
window, if the same is minimized.
- If the host address (for TCP/IP connection)
connection or the phone number (for Modem connection) is empty,
application would open up the connection page of the property sheet
after giving the user an error message.
- Phone Book has been upgraded to show all phone
numbers sorted by name. If you add a new phone number to the phone book,
the new entry would get highlighted.
- Script file contents will be sent to the host
for Modem connections only.

Important Note: Build 4.0, is a
major new build offering many new and advanced features. It is almost like
a new version, but is being offered under version 8.0 so that existing
users of version 8.0 can upgrade to this new build without purchasing an
upgrade. The terminal emulation features have been vastly enhanced. In
some instances (User Defined Keys) the user interface has changed. Please
check out this new build 4.0 as if you were checking out a new
version of the software before deploying this new build
widely.

DDE Client Interface. This
interface allows you to pass information back & forth between your
host application and Windows Applications (DDE Server). The complete
range of DDE functions like DDEInitialize, DDEExecute, DDEPoke,
DDERequest, DDEAdvise, DDEUnadvise, and DDETerminate are available to
you to make full use of DDE conversations with Windows DDE Server
applications.

PC File and Clipboard
Interface. A variety of interface functions are now available
to you to send (write) the host data to PC Files/Clipboard and
receive(read) data from PC Files & Clipboard.

Advanced terminal emulation
interface. A variety of specialized and advanced terminal
features are available to your host applications even though the
actual terminal may not offer them. These include, Save/Restore
Rectangular Box/Area, Alternate Page, etc.

Miscellaneous functions
interface. A variety of functions offering FTP file transfer
interface, launching of Windows applications, etc. are also available.

Terminal Emulation of advance features
in Wyse50, Wyse 60, Wyse 150 and Wyse 350 Terminals. Build 4.0
offers the following advance functions. Program function keys and other
special keys, Send Cursor Line, Back Tab, Insert Mode support, Monitor
Mode Support, Horizontal Split, Lower/Raise Horizontal Split Screen.

Terminal Emulation of advance features
in Esprit III terminal. Build 4.0 offers the following advance
functions. Program function keys and other special keys, Send Cursor
Line, Back Tab, Insert Mode support, and Monitor Mode Support. You can
also load a substitute character for the space character when executing
Clear Screen commands.

The button width adjusts automatically now,
based on the length of the text on the buttons.
-
You can also choose to limit the text shown
on the button to a specific number of characters without any need to
re-enter the label text for each button.
-
The image shown on the buttons may now be
hidden to save vertical screen space.
-
A menu item “Arrange Buttons” has been added
to “refresh” positions of UDK bands and buttons.
-
The 4 UDK Bar bands will ‘maximize/minimize”
on double clicking the mouse in the “level name” area of the band
(instead of single click).
-
The order of the bands within the “Rebar” is
now fixed. The first band is the “Address Bar” (if shown) followed by
the four UDK bars (UDK1 to UDK4). If you move one band to another row,
the bands shown after the band being moved would also move. For
example, if you move UDK2 bar to the second row, then UDK3 and UDK4
bar would also move to the second row to keep the same (fixed) order.
This avoids display confusion where bands were getting interchanged.

The UDK band headers that display the “level
name” for the UDK bars will automatically adjust in width to
accommodate full level name as typed.

Force Num Lock and Caps Lock
keys: You can now setup the terminal emulator to force Num
Lock, or Caps Lock, or both keys. This allows you to switch between your
host application and windows applications without having to turn these
keys on and off.

modem, screen used to loose focus sometimes.

Phone Book was not setting
the "waiting time before retry" correctly. It was also not waiting
before retrying. Cancel button is now enabled during this wait. Main
window was not getting disabled when a phone entry was selected from the
Phone Book.

Hangup delay has been increased to disconnect
older modems.

Standard Speaker has been
added as a selection for the "Beep Type". This would allow the
application to use the KB speaker for beeping.

Some graphics characters
were getting displayed in reduced intensity. This problem has been fixed
in Alpha Micro terminal emulations like AM62A, AM62C, AM65, etc. and in
Wyse 50 emulation.

The default settings have
been changed to enable "Local handling of Control C, Control Q and
Control S". KB re-mapper is now disabled by
default.

If the terminal session was stuck, closing the
application used to lock up the application.

If the terminal session was immediately
disconnected by the host (or otherwise), it used to display "Not
connected to host. Would You like to connect" message unnecessarily
while sending start up commands, if any.

UDK bars were not getting displayed if the first button was
not active and shown. Rubber band size has been adjusted to show UDK
buttons completely.

Cancelling the Native File
transfers (CPC/CALF) on Serial/Modem connections used to lock up the
application. TCP/IP connections worked fine. Similarly, closing the
application while the native file transfers were in progress used to
cause problems.

A new option "Convert
lower case letters to capital letters (A-Z)" has now been added under
Settings, Keyboard tab.

"Paste" function was not
copying the last set of data. This problem has been fixed.

The default RFC option for
stripping incoming (receive) "Line Feed character" on Telnet sessions
has been disabled. This used to eat up the Line feed characters for
Telnet connections. If you are experiencing this problem due to an
earlier build, please change this setting in Settings, Terminal, RFC.

Native file transfer
commands are now working for Serial connections.

Sometimes, the application
used to stop displaying the data on TCP/IP connections. Selecting
"Terminal Reset" would clear up the locked status. This problem has been
fixed.

AM62A and Wyse 50 terminal emulation was
blanking out unnecessarily on certain commands. Resulting display was
inaccurate.

Sometimes the box
characters were not being drawn in the normal intensity. They were
"Dim".
-
When the host is Unix,
Native file transfer commands would now invoke the correct commands.
However, please note that the cpc command requires the host side file
name and may not be invoked from the menu.

If the emulator fails to
connect to the host, it will now give you an option to "Retry", if you
so like.

If you turned off the status line, it used to reappear when you

Alt Key as Escape key" has been added to Settings, Keyboard,
Miscellaneous. Un-check it to prevent ALT key, when pressed by itself,
from acting as Escape key.
